I’ll Stop The World: We-Vibe Melt Review

Why yes, I did throw in a Modern English reference for the title of this post, and I will not apologize for it! This We-Vibe Melt review celebrates another pressure-wave device, which are among the most valued toys in my extensive toy arsenal right now. Unlike the Womanizer or Satisfyer brands, however, the We-Vibe Melt capitalizes on Bluetooth technology to allow for distance play and remote control. This has some pluses and drawbacks, but mostly it’s just a great overall toy.

First Impressions

We-Vibe has beautiful packaging for their products that depict an image of the toy on the outside.

We-vibe melt box

Inside the box is the Melt, along with a satin storage bag, charging cable, instructions, and a sample of lube.

The Melt is a hand-held toy as big as my palm plus half my finger length. It has a rounded back and a set of buttons on one side for manual control. The magnetic attachment point for the charger is right below those buttons. The business end, aka the clit hole–actually, maybe never call it that–is a little smaller than the pad of my thumb.

A couple of stylistic features you may notice; the buttons are inset, rather than raised, and the device has a curved profile with a more gradual arc than other types of pressure wave toys.

In Use

If you’ve never used a pressure wave device, it works like this: the nozzle fits around your clitoris with a gentle suction, and then pulsating air stimulates the clitoris itself. It’s a bit like being sucked, a bit like being blown on, a bit like a tiny fingertip tapping, and 100% mind-blowing. Honestly, so far, I’ve never met a pressure wave device I didn’t like. That includes the Melt.

I used the Melt in the same way I use other pressure wave devices: turn it on, stick it on my clit. Huzzah. I noticed quickly that the Melt is comparable in intensity to other pressure wave devices I’ve tried. Here is where some of my personal sensitivities hinder my review: the Melt has 12 levels of intensity, but I operate around 1 or 2 before my clit gets way too sensitive for things to be enjoyable. I got off really easily with this toy.

I also tried the Melt using Bluetooth technology. With the We-Connect app, which works for all of We-Vibe’s toys, you can control the toy through your phone or also connect someone long-distance so they can control your toy. With the Melt, I could ramp the intensity up and down directly on my phone. I could also, presumably, let someone else control the Melt for me in the same way.

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, it’s really fun to have someone else controlling your sex toys. The internet is a big place full of lots of kinky people, and what a great way to play long-distance. Plus, if you’ve already got a partner, you can get them involved. But with this particular toy, anyone who cranks the intensity level up above 2 or 3 for me is giving me a lot of discomfort rather than joy. So…communicate with your partner! I read somewhere that you can limit the maximum intensity of the toy when playing with a partner, but I can’t figure out how to do that. Overall, though, it’s a great idea.

Supposedly, this device is shaped to permit use during partner intercourse, but I can’t attest to that one way or the other. I do know that when using it alone, or with the app, it works pretty damn amazingly. The shape is thoughtfully designed, the range of intensities is broad, and the stimulation takes my breath away.

Kudos and Caveats

Kudos for a design that is made for partner intercourse but works well solo. Smooth curves and a slim profile seem promising for not getting in the way.

Even more kudos for pressure wave stimulation that blows my fucking mind. I can’t say enough good things about this type of toy.

Kudos for body-safe silicone and complete waterproofing. Take this beauty into the bath with you.

Kudos for partner connectivity with the We-Connect app, but caveat that you might find partner control too intense for this type of toy (as I do). As always, your mileage may vary.

Price is another caveat. This isn’t an inexpensive toy, but I think the value is really good, especially if you want a pressure wave toy that’s potentially usable with a partner, or you do a lot of long-distance play.

Final Thoughts

I’ve used a lot of similar devices, but the We-Vibe Melt brings uniqueness in the partner potential of its shape and, most of all, the connective possibilities in the app. Pressure wave toys are amazing for most people with clitorises, and if you’re in the market for one, the Melt might just make you…melt.
