The Seventh Day of Dicksmas: Paloqueth BDSM Kit Review

Damn, that’s a long title for a blog post. Christmas may be over, and the new year may be behind us, but Dicksmas continues. That’s right; Dicksmas does not obey any of the natural calendar rules. So for this, the seventh day of Dicksmas, I’m presenting my Paloqueth BDSM Kit Review.

Background Info

Paloqueth is a company that contacted me about doing product reviews. I’ve been a fan of their products so far. I’ve already reviewed the G-Spot Rabbit and the Dolphin. The third and final item they sent me is the BDSM kit, which I will take apart and review in this post.

Out of the Box

The BDSM Kit comes in a nice Paloqueth box.

On the inside, all the items were packaged together in a mesh bag.

There’s a lot in this kit! I dumped it all out with glee, then set to spreading it out across the bed. Here’s the whole set.

I’m going to take these items one by one, talking about what it’s good for and what I think about it’s quality and use.

BDSM Kit: Item By Item

Fur-lined cuffs

The kit comes with 4 fur-lined cuffs, two for wrists and two for ankles.

Wrist cuffs, fur-lined

The wrist and ankle cuffs each come attached to their partner with a short, slender chain and small snap clip. This is helpful to keep from mixing up which is which. The ankle cuffs and slightly bigger than the wrist cuffs.

The cuffs are secure, moderately easy to put on, a bit stiff as to be expected for new cuffs. They are made of a thin leather, and the faux fur lining is pretty soft. It’s also a bit sheddy. When I tug on them, they seem like they’ll hold up pretty well.

Four-Way Hogtie

This set of leather straps is designed to hold the wrist and ankle cuffs in a hogtie.

The clips are a simple lobster-claw push type, easy to put on. They clip easily to the d-rings on the cuffs, and if you’re flexible enough to get into a hogtie position, this will keep you there. The construction is sturdy.

Blindfold

Blindfolds are ubiquitous in bondage kits. This one is lined with a soft faux fur, like the cuffs.

Faux fur-lined mask

When I put this on, I can’t see at all, which is just what you want in a blindfold. It’s got a simple elastic strap to hold it in place. The faux fur is a little warm against my face, and I’m not sure I’d love it for a long period of time, but it’s a decent blindfold.

Collar

Like everything else so far in this kit, the collar is lined with faux fur. It’s a tall collar, made of the same leather as the cuffs, with a D-ring in front.

Leather collar

A collar this wide keeps my head very upright, so I can’t bend my neck. I like that constricting sensation, but with all that faux fur, it’s intensely hot. I did not like the sensation of fur wrapped around my throat. Lots of people have fur-lined collars, but it’s not something I enjoy. That’s not a fault of the collar, just a preference.

Leash

The leash that comes with the kit is a simple leather-style leash. Nothing particularly fancy or noteworthy, but it will do what it needs to do.

Rope

The kit comes with a cotton rope about 30′ long. (I guessed. I didn’t measure.)

Cotton rope

It’s a good, sturdy rope, perfect for most light bondage.

Ball Gag

The ball gag has a thin leather strap with a plastic ball that has holes for easy breathing (and drooling).

Ball gag

I’m gonna be honest here: the ball gag is probably my least favorite part of this set. I just don’t feel good with the plastic ball in my mouth. I have multiple ball gags, and they are all either silicone or rubber. With plastic, I’m very much afraid that I’m going to bite hard and snap it. I don’t know the strength of the ball. I’m too worried to test it. It’s probably fine, but I don’t enjoy it.

Nipple Clamps

The kit comes with two (of course) nipple clamps with bells.

Nipple Clamps with bells

They’re adjustable alligator-style clamps, but the curved kind that only pinch at the end, rather than the flat kind that pinch along their length. This makes them a bit milder than other types of clamps. This is a great type of nipple clamp for beginners, easy to use and adjustable.

Feather Tickler

This feather tickler is on a short stick with a handle.

It’s small, it’s cute, and it goes nicely with the rest of the kit’s aesthetic. It has a tendency to shed a bit on my white comforter.

Flogger

The final item in the kit is a leather flogger.

Leather flogger

It’s got a handful of falls — the straps that you hit someone with — and those falls are fairly thin. The handle itself is short, which keeps you from getting a lot of momentum into your swing. It’s actually not a bad thing to have less momentum: if you’ve got a sparse number of thin falls, like this flogger does, your impact is going to be wicked stingy. This is a sharp, stingy flogger rather than a thuddy one. That’s okay: stingy vs. thuddy is a personal preference.

Overall Thoughts

Rather than doing cheers and caveats, as I usually do here, I’m going to give my overall thoughts about the kit. It seems to make more sense.

Overall, this is a great beginner’s BDSM kit. It’s perfectly suited for people who think they might want to try bondage and sensation play but don’t want to drop hundreds of dollars on expensive products. It’s also got a nice diversity of items, so you can try several different types of sensations without buying everything individually.

The marketing for this kit calls it suitable for beginners or extreme kinksters, and that just isn’t true. Anyone who’s done any extensive BDSM play is going to find the quality of the items a bit sub-par. Don’t get me wrong; for the price point (only $22), this is excellent. But it’s not an advanced kit. It’s a wonderful place to start, and if you think you might want to give kink a try, I recommend it.
