I’ve reviewed a couple of the Lelo Enigma line on this blog: the original Enigma, then the Enigma Wave, and now I’m back to share my Lelo Enigma Double Sonic review. The Double Sonic combines multiple types of stimulation into an amazing orgasm machine. The marketing hype is fancy, and I’m not sure how much I buy into the specifics, but I do know this thing makes me come like crazy. It’s an excellent toy with a few questionable production choices.
First Impressions
Lelo packaging is fancy and beautiful. The Enigma Double Sonic comes in a black box with a clear front window showing the product.
Get it out of the box, and here’s the toy with its accompanying gear.
Lelo toys tend to come with pretty nice storage bags. The Enigma Double Sonic’s bag is soft, stretchy black fabric, higher quality than the satin bags of other companies. It’s a bit of a stretch, though, for the large toy. Lelo doesn’t provide an actual manual with their toys, instead providing a QR code for a downloadable manual.

The Enigma Double Sonic combines a clitoral stimulator with an internal arm. The “double sonic” name comes from the two points of sonic stimulation: the external part that sits over the clitoris, and the internal arm. The blue-green pad at the end of the arm flutters and provides sonic stimulation, apparently. This whole product is controllable either by the external buttons (plus, minus, and pattern) or by the Lelo app.

With this flexibility, you can find a nice angle for getting everything situated.
Now let’s talk function.
In Use
The Enigma Double Sonic is a potent toy. The trick to any clit stimulator is to line all the parts up correctly with your parts. The difference between “almost” and “exact” is the difference between light and lightning. But once lined up, I could rocket over the edge in no time at all.
Working just from the buttons, the Double Sonic has a series of pre-programmed patterns that create variation in either the internal arm’s stimulation, the clitoral stimulation, or both. Each pattern lets you increase and decrease the overall intensity with the plus and minus buttons. The first setting is “on” for both functions, and then you can also have a setting where just one or the other is on, and then you get into the patterns.
I cycled through the patterns, but my first time using this, I settled on the basic “both on” function. I liked the sensation of the internal arm: it felt like something knocking against my sensitive internal spots, but in a really good way. This type of pressure was delightful. Combined with the clit stimulation, which purports to be sonic but mostly felt like air pressure/sucking/tapping, I came in no time at all.
One drawback I noticed immediately is that the intensity controls affect both motors together. There’s no way to turn up just the internal motor, for example. So if you want more intensity inside, you get more intensity outside.
The App
The next time I used the Enigma Double Sonic, I controlled it via the Lelo app. The Lelo app is an interesting mix of useful and silly. Two of the control settings require you to control the toy by either rotating or shaking your phone. Who asked for this? Am I going to sit there and just Shake it like a Polaroid picture* until I come? Nobody has time for that.
*You shouldn’t really shake Polaroids.
The other setting, though, is a manual setting which lets you cycle through patterns and intensities without touching the body of the toy. I liked this, generally, but I wish the app had given me more independent control. I couldn’t figure out a way to change the intensity of the internal or external motors individually, and they clearly operate independently, so this should be possible.
There are two “advanced” settings on the app: “Finish Me Off” and “Out of Control.” I tried each of them for about two seconds, but they’re both too strong for me. This isn’t a humblebrag. I just can’t tolerate high intensity. For other people, though, I bet those settings are awesome.
Kudos and Caveats
Kudos for beautiful branding and a thoughtful physical design of the Enigma Double Sonic. I liked the way it looks and feels in hand, and I also like the flexibility of the internal arm.

Caveat: the branding online for the Lelo Enigma Double Sonic is…a little over-the-top.

The A-spot is the area right behind the cervix, in the fornix. I like when I have a long enough sex toy to reach that. But as near as I can tell, this toy is not hitting that area. It feels like it’s hitting my g-spot, or maybe just past the g-spot, but it’s not up near my cervix. Maybe it is for some people? Everyone’s bodies are different. But to write that this magical a-spot orgasm gives you a profound emotional release unlike any other? I rolled my eyes hard.
However, this toy makes me come crazy hard. I don’t care if Lelo wants to tell me that magical fairies are sucking my clit and waving pixie dust on my a-spot; if I come like the world is ending, they can say whatever they want. And who knows? Maybe those sonic waves are stimulating my a-spot. I can’t tell. I’m too blissed-out to notice.

Also, kudos for waterproofing. Take the Double Sonic in the bath or shower.
Caveat: you don’t get a full manual with the Enigma Double Sonic, and even if you download it online, the manual is woefully inadequate. If you’re just going to give me one page of useful content, print it out and put it in the packaging.
Caveat: I want to control the external clit stimulator separate from the internal sonic power part. Why can’t I do this on the app?
Biggest caveat: price. The Enigma Double Sonic is retailing at $349. This is so much money. I love using this toy, and it gives me incredible orgasms, but three hundred and fifty dollars? That’s beyond most people’s budget, to put it mildly.
Final Thoughts
The Enigma Double Sonic blows my mind, but it would also blow my budget completely if I were paying retail. Wait for this to go on sale, or ask your rich fuck-buddy to buy it for you, if you have one of those. I loved most things about my experience using it, but I don’t think it justifies its price tag. If your budget isn’t like mine, though? Go for it. Wishing you stellar orgasms.
