Back so soon? Of course! It’s still summer sensations, and I’m getting all the pleasure I can out of the last days of this season. Today, that means a Romp Shine X review. Known for quality sex toys at budget-friendly prices, Romp is a company name that everyone should know. I’m happy to finally get to review one of their Clitoral Stimulators, the Shine X, which was a big surprise.
First Impressions
Romp’s branding is bright and fun. The Shine X comes in a simple thin cardboard box with an image of the toy on the outside.
Here’s what you get with the Romp Shine X.
Few frills here, but lots of whimsy. The Shine X comes with a basic charging cable, instructions, and a sheet of fun stickers. I love the Romp selection of stickers, even if they aren’t suitable for mixed company (or nosy children). No storage bag, but Romp is all about saving you money.
Let me show you the Shine X from a couple of angles.
The Shine X has an oval nozzle for clit stimulation. It’s controlled by two buttons on the back: a larger + button and a smaller – button. Charge the toy through the butthole on the bottom. (Okay, it’s not a butthole, but it always gives me butthole vibes.)
In related news, Butthole Vibes would be a good name for a Butthole Surfers cover band.
Back to the toy. Let’s talk function.
In Use
I fully expected the Shine X to be underwhelming in terms of clit sucking power or functionality. I was pleasantly mistaken. With ten levels of power, there’s something here for all clits. I tend to stick to the lower end of the spectrum, just a personal preference, but I tested out all the levels and it gets pretty strong.
The lowest level of the Shine X was decently strong, possibly too strong for some, but I didn’t find it uncomfortable or anything. I just think there’s less subtlety in the power gradient. In use, well, it worked like a dream. Surprisingly quiet on lower levels, the Shine X channeled that Pleasure Air technology usually found in much pricier products and sent me on a quick train to climax town. If you’ve never tried this kind of toy, you are in for a TREAT. It’s sheer magic.
The Shine X doesn’t seem like it’s particularly fancy, but the functionality is no bargain-basement design. I was delighted by my experiences with this product.
Kudos and Caveats
Kudos for excellent design: the clit sucking technology (Pleasure Air, as this brand calls it) is marvelous and highly effective. I also loved the soft-touch silicone feel.
Mixed bag of kudos and caveat: the toy is very light in the hand, which means it’s comfortable to use but also makes it feel like a cheaper product than the effectiveness would indicate. It feels like it’s not going to work well. Don’t be fooled!
Kudos for waterproofing! I love the option of taking this toy in the bath or shower.
Caveat: you’re not going to get any fancy extras here. No color choices, no storage bag, and no magnetic induction charging. Do you care? I don’t care that much.
Mixed kudos and caveat for pricing. The Shine X is $49.99, which is a good price, but similar toys from competitors fall in the same price range. If you’re interested in saving more, and you don’t mind sacrificing a few power levels and the waterproofing, the splashproof Romp Switch X is a full $20 cheaper. I haven’t tried that one yet, but I’m interested.
Final Thoughts
I really liked the Romp Shine X. It worked great and got me right where I wanted to go in no time at all. I appreciate Romp’s desire to cut costs without sacrificing quality, and the Shine X works like a charm. It’s a good deal, but it’s not as much of a bargain as I’d have expected from the company. Still, it’s a lot cheaper than many of the clit suckers you’ll find on the market, and I’d recommend it for anyone who’s never tried a product of this type before.
Summer’s not over, folks! Enjoy those summer sensations.
