These are trying times. In the United States, where I live, social distancing seems to be the only way to stem the current pandemic. Folks are concerned for their health and the health of loved ones. Businesses, schools, restaurants are increasingly shuttered with each passing day.
In times like these, it’s a bit strange to be posting sex toy reviews. Or is it? Wherever possible, we’re all staying home, or at least we should be. There’s no better time to wank. Orgasms release endorphins and provide a much-needed distraction from the difficult realities of life.
With that in mind, I’m continuing to provide sex toy reviews. Today, I’m talking about the Deux by Le Wand, a clitoral vibrator with a gorgeous design and a moderately functional performance.
Out of the Box
The Le Wand Deux comes in a white box displaying an image of the product. Inside, you get the toy, instructions, and a black velvet storage case.
The Deux comes in either black or rose gold. I opted for rose gold, and I’m pleased with this decision. It’s a beautiful product.
The business end of the Deux is covered in a very soft silicone, although the toy itself is quite firm. The two tips at the top do not bend or flex. The base of the toy has three buttons: up and down, and in the middle, a button for changing through vibration modes. As you can see from the last picture, it’s a fairly flat, slim profile.
What I especially love about this design is how it charges:
I sent this picture to my friend, and she immediately replied, “TALK TO YOUR CLIT ABOUT THE DANGERS OF VAPING!”
Okay, I didn’t realize how much it looks like a vape pen. But still! I think it’s adorable!
Onto My Box
I was so hoping that the Le Wand Deux would be a rumbly vibrator. The marketing materials say it is, but I found it quite buzzy. That said, the two-prong design worked well for me, and I didn’t mind the buzziness with the stimulation happening on either side of my clit.
I enjoyed the patterns and varying intensities quite a bit. Like some other vibrators, Le Wand has all the patterns of varying intensities, too. Once you find a pattern you like, you can make that pattern stronger or weaker through the up and down buttons.
The Deux is very quiet. Through covers, I’d say it was silent, although not silent if it’s uncovered in an otherwise quiet room. Although buzzy, it’s quite strong, and I haven’t had any trouble getting off with this product.
Kudos and Caveats
Kudos for the aesthetic: I love the usb-style charger so there are no cables to lose, and I also love the rose gold look to the whole thing. This is very much a style preference.
Kudos for a very quiet vibrator.
Caveat: buzziness. At this price point, I would expect a rumbly vibrator akin to the We-Vibe Tango or even the Hot Octopuss Amo, but the Deux is mostly surface-level vibration.
Kudos for the twin ear design. Caveat for having those ears totally inflexible.
Kudos for waterproofing, caveat for … “sort of” waterproof? The instructions say it can be submerged in “pure water up to 1.6 feet for 30 minutes.” What happens after 30 minutes?? This is enough for me not to want to use it in the tub, but I suppose it makes it easy to clean.
Final Thoughts
The Deux is a beautiful vibrator that is moderately functional, but I’m not sure I would pay full price for it. It has a high-end aesthetic and would make a lovely gift, and I’m sure it would be nonthreatening for someone new to sex toys. It’s not the best quality of vibration, but it’s quiet and functional. Sadly, I’m not sure beautiful, quiet and functional are enough for me to give it top marks.
