I have made this joke in We-Vibe Melt reviews three times now, and I can’t stop, won’t stop. I’m back with the same joke and a new product: it’s my We-Vibe Melt 2 review! If you want to take a gander at the same joke a few years ago, here’s my review of the original We-Vibe Melt.
First Impressions
As always with We-Vibe, packaging is clean and beautiful. The sturdy box for the We-Vibe Melt 2 is colored to match the product, which I received in sage. You can also get it in purple.
Once you get into the box, here’s what you’ll find.
The We-Vibe Melt 2 comes with a charging cable, a couple of manuals/warranty info pamphlets, and a cotton storage bag. We-Vibe/ Womanizer started down the road of cotton storage bags back when the Womanizer Eco first came out, and I do like them more than some of the cheaper satin-poly bags that shed strings everywhere. The Melt 2 bag is unassuming and straightforward.
Here are some shots of the Melt 2 itself.
The shape of the Melt 2 is sleek, designed to be worn during partner intercourse, with a slimmer profile than similar products. The nozzle is smaller than some, slightly longer and narrower than my thumbnail (as shown in the last picture). Depending on the dimensions of your clitoris, this may or may not be a good size for you.
The Melt 2 has + and – buttons to control intensity as well as side arrows that cycle through the programmed patterns. The wavy tilde ~ button toward the bottom is used to connect to the app. The Melt 2 charges through magnetic induction charging.
Let’s talk function!
In Use
The We-Vibe Melt 2, like its predecessor, is a slim pressure wave stimulation device. This type of air-based stimulation has revolutionized the world of sex toys, and both the Melt and Melt 2 make good use of it.
The Melt 2 is a firmer silicone than the original Melt. The head/nozzle is softer, which is a nice choice, so it’s not uncomfortable. The body is grippier. This is nice when dealing with slippery hands, but I’m not sure how it would translate to intercourse. I didn’t test this with partner intercourse, so I can’t weigh in on that, but I’d be worried about the drag causing hair pulling in sensitive areas. (Feel free to share personal experience in the comments if you have info in this area.) Regardless, I didn’t mind the grippier texture so much for my own use.
The Melt 2 has a stronger motor than the original Melt. I was worried this would make the intensity too much for me at lower levels, but I found it fine. (More than fine. Fine is a big understatement for how delightful this toy is.) The Melt 2 also shares the Smart Silence function that’s common on most modern We-Vibe and Womanizer toys, where it doesn’t actually turn on until it makes skin contact. If you dislike that function, you can switch it off using the ~ button.
I’m not really into patterns, but if you are, you’ll love the variety that come pre-programmed into the Melt 2. Each pattern is controllable in intensity, which I always appreciate.
But the real magic, as always, lies in the app.
The App
The We-Vibe App is generally easy to use and quite functional. In addition to connecting to your toy via Bluetooth, you can also connect by scanning the code on the box. I had already ditched the box at this point, so I went with Bluetooth, which connected easily and stayed connected even when I stepped away from the toy for a bit.
The We-Vibe app is designed to allow long-distance control from a partner, but it’s also an easy way to control the toy yourself. There are many features included.
The app allows single vibe control through a slider, and multivibe control to let you switch easily between multiple patterns and intensities on the same screen. The app also includes settings I’m never going to use, like ambient (where the intensity/pattern matches your ambient environment) and playlist (where you can sync the toy to music). I know other people like these settings. If you’re stealth-vibing in a dance club, you deviant, I bet “ambient” is a great setting for that. (Keep it on the down low, folks! Strangers didn’t consent to be part of your kink.) There’s also basic touch control, where you drag your finger around the screen to control the intensity.
My favorite setting, though, and the one that’s new to the Melt 2 for me, is the AutoVibe function. Much like my adored “autopilot” feature on several Womanizers like the Womanizer Premium 2 and Womanizer Next, the AutoVibe function on the Melt 2 varies the intensity randomly within a certain range. There’s soft, intermediate, and intense, and simply by dragging the little icon into that range, the app takes over and creates a fabulous experience. Once I discovered AutoVibe, there was no turning back, and this toy got me swiftly where I wanted to go and kept me there as long as I wanted to stay.
Kudos and Caveats
Kudos to We-Vibe’s quality packaging and design; this is obviously a high-end product and they consistently make that apparent with care to the details.
Even more kudos to the engine driving the Melt 2. The pressure wave stimulation is delightful, soft or intense depending on what you’re looking for, with a lot of variability in between.
Kudos for offering patterns, I guess. There are people out there who like patterns, right? I keep seeing other reviewers who, like me, share their dislike for patterns, but I suppose we don’t have to use them.
Big kudos for the We-Vibe App, which keeps getting more robust and multifunctional.
Autovibe deserves its own kudos. Kudos to you, autovibe. Caveat: I don’t think you can get autovibe if you’re not using the app. The app really does unlock the full functionality of the toy.
As always, kudos for waterproofing. I’d never want to pay this much for a toy and have it not waterproof, but it does happen. Take this fine friend into the bath or shower as much as you’d like.
Mixed bag: pricing. At $159, this is not an inexpensive toy by any means. It’s not in “impulse purchase” range for most of my readership. I would argue that this is a good value for this product, and it’s comparable to other high-end toys with similar (and even less!) functionality. I think it’s worth the price while also being aware that this is a lot of money for most people, and that needs to be acknowledged.
Final Thoughts
I really like the Melt 2. I love the Autovibe feature and the app functionality, and I appreciate the slim profile and its potential for use during partner intercourse. The aesthetics are gorgeous, and as for function, it rockets me out of this world in mere minutes. We-Vibe has another win on its hands along with my enthusiastic endorsement.
