Happy holiday season, folks! I haven’t been doing a lot of reviews lately because I’ve been super busy with other exciting real life things, so there will be no flood of reviews for Sexmas. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have anything for you! I’m on the blog today reviewing the Lelo Switch, a double-ended vibrator with the versatility you just might be looking for this holiday.
First Impressions
Lelo packaging is simple and elegant, and this time, mine is also emblazoned with the word SAMPLE. The Switch comes in a plain black box with a clear window front.
Here’s what you get in the box. Every time I post a pic like this, I think about those commercials from when I was growing up: “Comes with everything you see here!” Different kind of toy, but same principle.
The Switch comes with a silky black bag, a warranty card, and lube, along with a charging cable that I forgot to include in the photograph.
Let me show you the Switch from some different angles.
The fundamental design of the Lelo Switch allows you to use it two ways. For one, it can be a wand vibrator, with vibrations focused at the rounded head for external stimulation. Flip it around and it can be an insertable dildo-style vibrator, with vibrations focused on that end instead.
Let’s talk about how well it delivers on this promise.
In Use
Lelo is known for high-powered vibrators with strong, rumbly motors. Their products are high-end quality and priced accordingly. The Lelo Switch aims to serve two purposes, and while it’s pretty good at both, its primary benefit comes from its versatility rather than excelling at either “end,” so to speak.
The controls of the Switch allow you to swap between vibration locations and patterns. Some vibrations are centered at the wand end, others at the tail end, and some rotate between them. I love that you can independently control the intensity of each pattern/setting. Because you’re only using one half of the toy at a time, though, many of the settings are not applicable.
As a wand vibrator, the vibrations were satisfying but not as concentrated as I usually enjoy from a wand vibe. As an insertable, the vibrations were strong and rumbly, but the shaft of the toy was tapered at exactly the point where I wanted more width. But as a versatile toy that does both, the Switch is a solid two-in-one combo product. Neither end was stellar, but both were very good.
The App
Lelo’s app is not hard to use, and the connection is reliable (although I did have to update it before it would connect to the Switch). It’s more complicated than I want, though. Several of the settings require shaking or tilting the phone. No one’s going to do that for the amount of time it takes to reach orgasm. Some involve just dragging your finger up and down the screen, easy enough. Another setting asks you to push the “plus” on the image of the toy.
The confusing part is the labeling. Lelo has preset the patterns 1-10 with names like “steady,” “relax,” “energetic,” but those names have nothing to do with the actual function. For example, on the Switch, the patterns alternate between the wand end and the tail end, so 1,3,5 are wand end, and 2,4,6 are tail end, etc. Some vary between. But the names don’t say that. The app is great if you want to involve a long-distance partner, but for solo use, more trouble than it’s worth, IMO.
Kudos and Caveats
Kudos for a toy that can be used two ways. If you like to switch it up in play, or you want a toy that does multiple things fairly well, the Switch is a great choice.
Kudos for waterproofing. All toys at this price point should be 100% waterproof, including submersible, and the Switch fits that bill.
Kudos for a rumbly vibrator. The toy is strong where it needs to be strong, and those vibrations carry.
Caveat: the two ends, while each good, are not as good for their intended purpose as a stand-alone similar toy. A wand vibrator and a vibrating dildo will be better than the Switch, and they can be used at the same time.
Final Thoughts
The Lelo Switch is a solid toy for someone who isn’t sure how they want to use a vibrator and wants one product instead of multiple products. It’s great quality, reliable, and powerful. I can’t say I’d choose it over two separate toys that do the same thing, but your mileage may vary. The Switch would be an excellent gift option as well.
Speaking of gift options — Lelo’s doing some amazing Black Friday sales this weekend, so hop on their main site and see what else might tickle your fancy! Some of my favorites are the Enigma line and the Sona line. Check them out!
